    A
    bee-hive
consists of nearly 3,000 female workers, 100 males and 1 queen. In summer, worker bees live only about 30 days, working themselves to death, eversince they hatch - collecting nectar and pollen from flowers.

They travel up to 3 miles away, and upon finding a significant source, they recruit other workers with a dance - the dance identifies that food is available as well as distance and direction, encoded in movements and sounds - right at 100 ft, left at 50 ft - waggle dance.
