1997 (Toronto) - Waterpump replaced. April 1998 (Toronto) - I did 100hours of bodywork for rust on doors - gotta look good. Sept 1998 (Temagami) - sides scraped on branches during bushwacking on car-trails. Bottom of front hit hard at the bottom of a hill (before a new hill). Nov 1998 (Lansing, Michigan) - ran out of gas. Jan 1999 (Chicago) - ran through yellow-wood-bar gate. March 1999 (Chicago) - windshield wiper flew off in rain in 80mph (damaged from gate). April 1999 (Chicago) - rear left strut broke, tire wobbling for 60 miles. July 1999 (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) - on a hot humid day i left windows all open; thunderstorm came while i was working. July 1999 (Illinois) - bald front tires replaced with 2 used tires, just before 300mi business trip. First tire broke a belt inside. Second got shredded in 80mph - quite a feeling trying to hold the steering wheel. I bought new tires on arrival to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Never again used tires in the front! Aug 1999 (Chicago) - rotors so thin they almost broke... car not braking; new brakes. Sept 1999 (Chicago) - moving, need Jeep. | |||
Afterthoughts: Nice car, no theft concerns, possible to sleep in back seat. No A/C = No problem. Slight "backfire" after being pushed for 500miles at 80mph (not real backfire, but a "pop"). Just minor maintenance issues, never a big deal. Worth 10 times the $400 i paid for it. The best color for Ford Tempo - Sky Blue. |
